Junction

the Lantern (the Vantor Junction Anchor)

junction · contested (Combine-secured crossing; Nhál-mediated region) · golden-age expansion era

A living machine with named vanes (a "threading" is a crossing operation; vanes can "sing wrong" when the anchor is over-pushed). Worth the wonder before it turns (the B2 mid-book life beat).

Position

Classification

Combine-secured crossing (Warden Halsen's authority); culturally a crossroads with Nhál mediation; the mainline Anchorage anchorhold sits near the crossing.

Population

Bex Orsa — civilian Lantern anchor; repair-gang chief (the keystone face); knows the vanes by name (file pending) Warden Iver Halsen — Combine Security at the Lantern (file pending)

Wound state

The over-push and the cooling lane are the B2 Drag surfacing; Imeth recognises the pattern as permanent (the Wound) but withholds saying so plainly.

Canon has not fixed this place in space, so the archive does not invent a coordinate for it. It appears in the gazetteer as unplaced rather than on the star map as a guess.

On the record

  1. The lane is over-pushed; the anchor drawn too hard (the Drag surfacing — a vane "singing wrong" felt before Delgado can prove it).
  2. Splinter sabotage of a vane (the over-push / the on-page sin, B2 packet face #4).
  3. Crisis at the cradle / last window; the Lantern survives at reduced throughput, one vane dark.
  4. Imeth's withheld sentence concerns this site: "We have seen this. The lane will not come back." (the cooling as permanent).
