Child of the continuance thread; the living answer to what the war was for. The life-object: a small carved wooden dog named Pomme ("it means apple"), clipped to the harness webbing so it can't drift loose, corners sanded smooth so it can't cut. Carved by Senna's absent mother (Greer's partner, coreward and unreachable) one winter when Senna was a baby who wouldn't sleep without something in her fist — so the object also carries the absent parent. Introduced flatly through Petrov's medical/safety lens, never sentimentalised.
