A calibration hand at Tornel Station; one of the drift-affected workers kicked onto the ballistic arc in a falsely-manifested transfer capsule. In the capsules he called the roll by hull number and kept the group's morale; he had drawn the oldest, weakest capsule. His older/weaker unit fails first, giving Cross only hours at the reversal. The named outpost victim who dies in the failed first rescue — a real person dead because Cross trusted the clean institutional answer over the contaminated local truth. NOT a core Lodestar crew death.
