About
's unnamed cost has a face. Speaks for the people who could not come out on the next window because somebody has to — not because the ground elected anybody and not because it wants a spokesman. They are not waiting to be rescued and they are not grateful. Nobody sent word out in eight years because there was no way to send it; the stock house is shut; the ground has been managing. Asked what it needs, the answer is about glass, seed and a hull (chapter 22). chapter 22: asks what one mark short means for a hull with people in it — the question that sets the limit for everything that follows.
How they speak
A ground's working voice — glass, seed, heating load, what got cut to pay for what, who would go and who would not. No pathos, no accusation, no gratitude, no speech. Nobody says we did this to you, and Harrel does not say it either.
