Feeds Kestrel's people because they look thin, and is offended by an attempt to pay properly — see mireth §THE ENCOUNTER, misreading 9b: Mireth reads a crew that recovers its own rigging as a crew that cannot afford to leave any, and is KIND about it. She does not ask where they are from until the third visit.
