About

Commands the station through terminal black. Leads with the number — "Eighteen aboard. All eighteen in the pressure hull. Nobody outside" — because she decided on the way round the planet that the number was the first thing the ground needed. She is the bounding lock made human. She states what her instruments cannot do before she states what they saw, every time. Twenty-six frames she cannot command and nine she cannot find; a wide-field thermal built to tell her whether a weather cell is warming; four warm things on the settlement since Friday, one of which was the South Thermal stack.

Twenty-six frames she cannot command and nine she cannot find; a wide-field thermal built to tell her whether a weather cell is warming; four warm things on the settlement since Friday, one of which was the South Thermal stack. She refuses Redding's tug question flatly and gives the reason: vacuum craft, and they are also the only way anybody gets onto the outside of the station.

How they speak

Number first, limitation second, observation third. Asks for a read-back before she gives anything else. Changes register exactly once per exchange, at the end, when she stops being a station and is a person with people aboard.
