Sheet kept from the night the source’s own structure was transmitted back up the channel — sixty-one fast, thirteen slow, the same grammar returned — and the return rose off the meters for forty seconds before being brought down gently. By the next pass the pulse was exactly what it had been for three years. The floor was not.

Boxed, checked, finished. Every joule that moved is accounted for, including the ones that arrived from a direction joules do not arrive from. As bookkeeping, the night is clean.
Ledger two — entropy
The apparatus returned to its starting state. The closed-cycle model states the least disorder the run must have produced. The calorimetry reads less than that.

Margin — three hands, three readings
- An unmodelled systematic. Find it.
- Exported through the channel. Then say to where.
- The model of the source is incomplete. Then so is every line above this one.
No reading is struck out. The deficit is small at bench scale, it repeats, and on later sheets it grows with the depth of the draw. The first ledger is why the floor became famous. The second is why this sheet is preserved.
