Two generations of seam-power reshaped Sol into a fortress of plenty: Mars terraformed into the system's great spaceport, orbital habitats, a system-wide defensive lattice — a hated Earth building walls. The yards there carry the name of the undersecretary who brought a lost ship home, which is a strange fate for a man who never wanted a ship at all.
