The Fractured
Four people. One device. Sixty minutes to leave a place they should never have arrived.
Joel Kirby is seventeen. The device in his Bristol basement was a hobby — until the night it pulled him, his stepfather, the girl he loves, and the one person in the room he cannot stand into 2157, onto a station above Ceres. The recharge takes seven days. The activation window, when it opens, is sixty minutes. They will not be coming home from anywhere they go.
The Fractured is the contemporary thread of the franchise. 2026 Bristol as the anchor. Five temporal positions across 131 years. The device recharge time drifts upward across the series — the Wound's accelerating cost made visible.

The Fractured is the franchise's contemporary entry point. Four seventeen-year-olds and one forty-six-year-old geography teacher, pulled into the far future by a device that shouldn't work. Each book is a complete sixty-minute activation window at a different temporal position.
The device recharge time drifts across the series: Book 1 average 3.5 weeks, Book 2 4.1 weeks, Book 3 5.2 weeks. The group attributes it to wound-fractured zone density. They are not wrong. The reader can see the acceleration the group cannot name.
The Fractured and The Silence are the franchise's bookends: the signal that starts everything (2047) and the contemporary thread that ripples forward from it (2026–2157).
